Last year\u2019s novel, <span><a href=\"http:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/books\/9781250059857\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>The Dead Will Tell,<\/span><\/a><\/span> is now out in paperback from St. Martin\u2019s for $7.99. Her upcoming hardcover <span><a href=\"http:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/books\/9781250061560\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>After the Storm,<\/span><\/a><\/span> the seventh in the series, hits bookstores on July 14.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u18343-68\"><span>Sandra Brown\u2019s<\/span> <span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hachettebookgroup.com\/titles\/sandra-brown\/mean-streak\/9781455581122\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Mean Streak<\/span><\/a><\/span> (Grand Central Publishing) is available in trade paperback, a little pricier than mass market at $15. But one of her earlier novels, <span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hachettebookgroup.com\/titles\/sandra-brown\/breath-of-scandal\/9781455529841\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Breath of Scandal<\/span><\/a><\/span> (Grand Central Publishing), is now offered as an $8 paperback.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u18343-80\"><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/312755\/midnight-crossroad-by-charlaine-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Midnight Crossroad<\/span><\/a><\/span> (Ace), the first novel in <span>Charlaine Harris\u2019s<\/span> new series, was published last May in hardcover and now is in paperback for $9.99. <span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/312757\/day-shift-by-charlaine-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Day Shift<\/span><\/a><\/span> (Ace), the second novel in the series set in the small, mysterious town of Midnight, Texas, comes out in hardcover later this month. All of Harris\u2019s popular Sookie Stackhouse books have been reissued in paperback. Harris now lives and writes in Texas.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u18343-89\">A true crime story, <span><a href=\"http:\/\/ttupress.org\/CatalogueRetrieve.aspx?ProductID=9031729&#038;A=SearchResult&#038;SearchID=8741516&#038;ObjectID=9031729&#038;ObjectType=27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Anatomy of a Kidnapping: A Doctor\u2019s Story<\/span><\/a><\/span> by Lubbock author <span>Dr. Steven L. Berk,<\/span> was published in hardcover by Texas Tech University Press in 2011, and the trade paperback edition came out this spring ($18.95). Berk tells about his abduction at gunpoint from his home in Amarillo in 2005.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u18343-98\">In some cases, such as <span>Diane Kelly\u2019s<\/span> witty, sassy Tara Holloway novels, readers don\u2019t have to wait for the paperback. They are released in paperback to begin with. Her newest is <span><a href=\"http:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/deathtaxesandcheapsunglasses\/dianekelly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Death, Taxes and Cheap Sunglasses<\/span><\/a><\/span> (St. Martin\u2019s, $7.99), the eighth featuring Dallas IRS agent Holloway, who always manages to find herself in hot water as she ferrets out tax cheats.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u18343-108\"><span><a href=\"http:\/\/wingspress.com\/book.cfm?book_ID=188\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Women Writers: Her Texas: Story, Image, Poem &#038; Song<\/span><\/a><\/span> is an interesting, important, and very readable 450-page anthology of creative pieces written by Texas women (Wings Press, $29.95 hardcover). Edited by <span>Donna Walker-Nixon, Cassy Burleson, Rachel Crawford,<\/span> and <span>Ashley Palmer,<\/span> the collection is divided into four major sections \u2013 creative nonfiction, song, poetry and fiction, with poetry by far the largest of the four groupings.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u18343-113\">Contributions by about sixty women writers are included. Among them are <span>Lou Rodenberger, Frances Vick, Tish Hinojosa, Naomi Shihab Nye, Sandra Cisneros, Loretta Diane Walker, Susie Kelly Flatau, Jan Seale, Diane Fanning, Mary Russell Rogers,<\/span> and the four editors of the book.
