10th annual Texas Teen Book Festival author lineup announced<\/h1>\n

Thirty-six YA authors will be featured<\/span> at the tenth annual Texas Teen Book Festival (TTBF) on the campus of St. Edward\u2019s University in Austin on Saturday, October 6, 2018. The lineup includes Ebony Adams, PhD<\/span> (History vs Women: The Defiant Lives That They Don\u2019t Want You to Know<\/span>), Adib Khorram<\/span> (Darius the Great Is Not Okay<\/span>), David Levithan<\/span> (Someday<\/span>), Samantha Mabry<\/span> (All the Wind in the World<\/span>), and Lilliam Rivera<\/span> (The Education of Margot S\u00e1nchez<\/span>).<\/p>\n

The keynote speakers this year are Nic Stone<\/span> and Neal and Jarrod Shusterman.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nic Stone is the author of the New York Times<\/span> bestselling novel Dear Martin,<\/span> a William C. Morris Award Finalist. At TTBF, Stone will present her second novel, Odd One Out, which explores \u201cthe complicated, sometimes confusing dynamics of friendship, love, and identity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neal Shusterman<\/span> is the National Book Award\u2013winning and New York Times<\/span> bestselling author of more than thirty books, including Challenger Deep,<\/span> which won the National Book Award, and Scythe,<\/span> a Michael L. Printz Award Honor Book. Neal\u2019s son Jarrod will join him at TTBF to present their co-authored book, which is set in a dystopian future in which the California drought has spread throughout the country.<\/p>\n

In addition, special guest Mary E. Pearson,<\/span> the New York Times<\/span> bestselling author of The Remnant Chronicles, Jenna Fox Chronicles, and many award-winning books for teens, will present her new novel, Dance of Thieves,<\/span> with a new cast of characters. Pearson will also headline the first TTBF Trivia Contest.<\/p>\n

Inprint Houston announces 2018\u201319 authors for its Margarett Root Brown Reading Series<\/h1>\n

On Monday, July 23, Houston\u2019s creative writing organization Inprint<\/span> announced authors for its Margarett Root Brown Reading Series\u2019 2018\u201319 season during a special happy hour at Night Heron.<\/p>\n

The new season kicks off September 24 with Esi Edugyan,<\/span> author of Half-Blood Blues,<\/span> which was short-listed for the Man Booker Prize, and Meg Wolitzer,<\/span> whose newest New York Times<\/span> best-selling novel is The Female Persuasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inprint will also present two events in its Cool Brains! Series for younger readers. Sylvia Acevedo,<\/span> Girl Scouts of the USA CEO and a rocket scientist, will read from her memoir, Path to the Stars,<\/span> on September 16 at the Meyerland Performing and Visual Arts Middle School. Newbery Honor winner Jason Reynolds<\/span> will read from Lu, (Track Book 4) <\/span>on November 4.<\/p>\n
