His essays also are broadcast frequently on National Public Radio. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lonestarliterary.com\/sites\/lonestarliterary.etypegoogle10.com\/files\/article_body_images\/turning%20the%20pages%20of%20texas.jpg\" style=\"float:left; height:294px; margin:2px; width:200px\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif\"><em>Turning the Pages of Texas<\/em>, with sixty-four delightful and insightful articles, is the third collection of Texas stories to grow out of Taylor\u2019s exceptional column, following <em>Texas, My Texas: Musings of the Rambling Boy<\/em> and <em>Texas People, Texas Places: More Musings of the Rambling Boy<\/em>. I highly recommend all three volumes to anyone who might have an abiding interest in Texas history or just appreciates a well-crafted story.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif\">Taylor begins <em>Turning the Pages<\/em> with pieces on noted Texas authors John Graves, J. Frank Dobie, Americo Paredes, Larry McMurtry, and A.C. Greene. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif\">In another section, Taylor reveals his fondness for libraries, used bookstores, and cookbooks. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif\">One section is devoted to fascinating topics ranging from Gertrude Beasley\u2019s <em>My First Thirty Years<\/em> to <em>Texas Brags<\/em>, <em>Texas Cattle Brands<\/em>, and fond memories of Texas writers Grover Lewis and Bryan Woolley. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif\">The fourth section is devoted to \u201cCooks, Photographers, Poets and Others\u201d and includes a tribute to Laura Wilson\u2019s photography book on <em>Watt Matthews of Lambshead<\/em> and an interview with noted cowboy poet Joel Nelson.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif\"><em>Turning the Pages of Texas<\/em> offers a personal tour of a well-read Texan\u2019s library by a knowledgeable, enthusiastic advocate for Texas literature.&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lonestarliterary.com\/sites\/lonestarliterary.etypegoogle10.com\/files\/article_body_images\/gourmet%20on%20a%20hot%20plate.jpg\" style=\"float:right; height:291px; margin:2px; width:200px\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif\"><strong>Small Kitchens: <\/strong>When Fort Worth author and gourmet cook Judy Alter moved into a small cottage with a tiny kitchen a couple of years ago, she had to change the way she cooked, basically using a hot plate and a toaster oven.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\">And now she has published a cookbook, <em>Gourmet on a Hot Plate: Tiny Kitchen Tips &amp; Recipes<\/em> ($12.99 paperback, $6.99 e-book).
