Children\u2019s Festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2019, beginning at 12 p.m. at the <\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/houstonlibrary.org\/\" style=\"color:#0563c1; text-decoration:underline\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">Houston Public Library<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">\u2019s Barbara Bush Literacy Plaza located at 500 McKinney Street. Families are invited to enjoy a day of free activities including author presentations, performances, interactive demonstrations, prizes, games, and more. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">The featured author at the tenth annual festival is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macbarnett.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mac Barnett<\/a>. Barnett is a <em>New York Times<\/em>-bestselling author of stories for children. His books, including <em>Triangle<\/em>, <em>Count the Monkeys<\/em>, <em>Battle Bunny<\/em>, and his latest series, <em>Mac B. Kid Spy and The Terrible Two<\/em>, have sold more than one million copies in the United States and have been translated into more than thirty languages. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">His picture books include two Caldecott-Honor-winning collaborations with Jon Klassen: <em>Sam &amp; Dave Dig a Hole<\/em>, which also won the E.B White Read-Aloud Award, and <em>Extra Yarn<\/em>, which won both the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award and the E.B. White Read-Aloud Award. <em>Leo: A Ghost Story<\/em>, illustrated by Christian Robinson, and <em>The Skunk<\/em>, illustrated by Patrick McDonnell, were named two of the Ten Best Illustrated Books of 2015 by <em>The New York Times<\/em>. Mac\u2019s novels include the Brixton Brothers mysteries and The Terrible Two series.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">From 12:00&nbsp;to 1:15 p.m., there will be a large group talk and presentation with Mac Barnett, followed by book sales and signing in the gallery area.
