The Clifton resident was recognized for her novel <span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tyndale.com\/The-Story-Keeper\/9781414386898\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>The Story Keeper<\/span><\/a><\/span> (Tyndale House, 2014).<\/p>\n<p id=\"u27959-19\">The Christys began in 1999 when nearly a dozen Christian publishers established a Christian fiction award to recognize novelists and novels of excellence in several genres of Christian fiction. The awards were named in honor of the most famous work of Catherine Marshall, writer of more than two dozen books and one of the country\u2019s most notable and bestselling Christian authors. Many readers like to listen at work, at the gym, while walking or jogging, or in other situations that suit their lifestyle\u2014and their ears.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u27980-13\">Hearing stories can provide an out-of-this world experience. Romance\u2014 especially Texas romance\u2014is Red Planet\u2019s most frequently requested genre for audio.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u27980-37\">According to these professionals, it\u2019s simply not a good idea for most writers to read their own books. \u201cThey want to hear the voice that they have in their head or their character\u2019s voice, and usually, they just can\u2019t pull that off,\u201d Opperman said.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u27980-40\">When asked if any book simply wasn\u2019t right for audio, Opperman said, \u201cOnly the ones with a single narrator and a lot of dialogue. Those are very difficult to keep interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"u27980-43\"><span id=\"u28291\"><span id=\"u28285\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"148\" height=\"148\" src=\"https:\/\/lonestarliterary.etypegoogle10.com\/sites\/lonestarliterary.etypegoogle10.com\/files\/description\/red%20planet%2c%20classics%20anthology_cover%20sm.jpg\"  id=\"u28285_img\" \/><\/span><\/span>Red Planet Audio produces only full editions (no abridgements) and is a 100% digital production firm. Ballpark fees for their audio books are $300 per finished hour of work, and the average Red Plant book takes six to eight hours to finish.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u27980-46\">They provide audio production of manuscripts complete with transitional music, manufacture of the finished product on CD and flash drive, and distribution, both digitally and physically, through such retailers as iTunes, Amazon, Audible, and Barnes &#038; Noble.
