The hall stilled. And when those lights came back up, a high-cotton-haired Ann Richards dazzled the crowd and delighted television viewers everywhere. Her one-liners zinged. Her Southern drawl zanged. Just as soon as Ann finished making everyone laugh till they cried, folks asked why <em>Ann<\/em> wasn\u2019t running for president. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtecenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lonestarliterary.com\/sites\/lonestarliterary.etypegoogle10.com\/files\/article_body_images\/02a_indelible_ann_interior1.jpg\" style=\"height:421px; width:650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\">Because there was still work to be done in Texas.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\">Ann stood up and raised her helping hand high again, this time to run for governor. She kept on visiting all those little towns. She steered a boat through coastal waterways.
