She and the single, gruff, domineering ranch owner do not hit it off at all \u2014 in fact, they can\u2019t seem to stand each other. So you can probably see where this story is headed.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u152470-38\">Meacham, as the 2016 A.C. Greene Award winner, will be featured at the West Texas Book Festival in Abilene on Sept. 24.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u152470-48\"><span>Linda Castillo continues her popular thriller series<\/span> set in the Amish country with <span><a href=\"http:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/amongthewicked\/lindacastillo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Among the Wicked<\/span><\/a><\/span>(Minotaur Books, $26.99 hardcover). Castillo&#8217;s newest novel branches out a bit from the regular Ohio setting, however, with Chief of Police Kate Burkholder going undercover in an isolated and secretive Amish community in rural upstate New York.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u152470-51\">Castillo fans will find that her newest offering may well be the best yet. If you haven\u2019t read any of her earlier mysteries, go ahead and plunge right in. Once you\u2019ve zipped through one of her novels, you\u2019ll probably want to go back and read the others.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u152470-64\"><span>The fourth book in Amarillo novelist Jodi Thomas\u2019s Ransom Canyon<\/span> series is due out on Aug. 30. <span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.harlequin.com\/storeitem.html?iid=66050\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Sunrise Crossing<\/span><\/a><\/span> (HQN, $7.99) is the third title published this year, following <span>Rustler\u2019s Moon<\/span> back in January and <span>Lone Heart Pass<\/span> in April. Thomas\u2019s stories, while technically in the romance genre, make good reading for men as well as women. And although they are part of a series, each title can be read as a stand-alone. A few familiar characters come and go throughout the series.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u152470-73\"><span>Abilene\u2019s Karen Witemeyer says she writes historical romances<\/span> \u201cto give the world more happily ever afters,\u201d and she\u2019s making quite a name for herself with more than 300,000 copies sold and several awards framed. Her latest is <span><a href=\"http:\/\/bakerpublishinggroup.com\/books\/no-other-will-do\/352740\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>No Other Will Do<\/span><\/a><\/span> (Bethany House, $14.99 paperback), set in 1882 in a women\u2019s colony in Texas where women in need are offered a fresh start. But when an assailant threatens to drive them out, Emma Chandler sends out a plea for help to a man she knows. She once saved his life; now he has a chance to return the favor.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u152470-83\"><span><span id=\"u152656\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Have-Heart-Touch-Domestic-Equalizers-ebook\/dp\/B01CIL979S\" id=\"u152648\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"readableLinkWithLargeImage\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"readableLargeImageContainer\"><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/lonestarliterary.etypegoogle10.com\/sites\/lonestarliterary.etypegoogle10.com\/files\/description\/cash%2c%20you%20can%20have%20my%20heart%20but%20don%e2%80%99t%20touch%20my%20dog_cover%20sm.jpg\"  id=\"u152648_img\" \/><\/div>\n<p><\/a><\/span><\/span><span>Fans of Dixie Cash will be excited to know<\/span> that the fun-loving two-sister writing team is back with an intriguing new title, <span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Have-Heart-Touch-Domestic-Equalizers-ebook\/dp\/B01CIL979S\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>You Can Have My Heart But Don\u2019t Touch My Dog,<\/span><\/a><\/span> set in a gourmet pet food bakery in Midland (available in paperback and e-book).<\/p>\n<p id=\"u152470-92\"><span>The tenth book in Diane Kelly\u2019s delightful Death and Taxes series<\/span> featuring female Dallas IRS agent Tara Holloway is <span><a href=\"http:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/deathtaxesandasatingarter\/dianekelly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Death, Taxes and a Satin Garter<\/span><\/a><\/span> (St. Martin\u2019s, $7.99 paperback). Kelly also has a second mystery series going, Paw Enforcement, starring a Fort Worth police officer and her K-9 partner.
