Funds from the festival underwrite the Texas Author Series. This spring\u2019s series includes five programs, featuring history, mystery, football, romance and inspiration.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u10659-10\">All the programs begin at noon at the Abilene Public Library downtown. A delicious lunch is served at 11:45 for just $5, or you may bring your own. Books are available for purchase and signing.<\/p>\n<h1 id=\"u10659-13\">This spring\u2019s schedule<\/h1>\n<ul id=\"u10659-29\">\n<li id=\"u10659-16\"><span id=\"u10659-14\">Monday, Feb. 9<\/span> \u2013 Romance:\u00a0 Novelists Karen Witemeyer (Abilene) and Lisa Wingate (Clifton) will provide a little romance just in time for Valentine\u2019s Day. Both write upbeat, award-winning inspirational romance novels.<\/li>\n<li id=\"u10659-19\"><span id=\"u10659-17\">Monday, March 2<\/span> \u2013 History: Celebrate Texas Independence Day and Texas Women\u2019s History Month with Carmen Goldthwaite (Fort Worth), author of two books on Texas women \u2013 Texas Dames and Texas Ranch Women.<\/li>\n<li id=\"u10659-22\"><span id=\"u10659-20\">Monday, March 23<\/span> \u2013 Football: Play Hard, Stay Purple and Other Life Lessons from Hardin-Simmons Football is a collection of pieces written by HSU players and coaches on what they learned about life while playing football for former head coach Jimmie Keeling. Several of the writers will share their experiences, and sports announcer Al Pickett will emcee the program.<\/li>\n<li id=\"u10659-25\"><span id=\"u10659-23\">Monday, April 13<\/span> \u2013Mystery: Brent Douglass, John T. Davis and James R. Dennis (Austin and San Antonio) write entertaining murder mysteries under the pen name of Miles Arceneaux &#8212; Ransom Island, Thin Slice of Life, and LaSalle\u2019s Ghost &#8212;\u00a0 all set on the Texas Gulf Coast.\u00a0 James Dennis is the nephew of Abilene\u2019s Ed and Sue Patton.<\/li>\n<li id=\"u10659-28\"><span id=\"u10659-26\">Monday, May 11<\/span> \u2013 Inspiration: Tim Madigan (Arlington) is the author of I\u2019m Proud of You: My Friendship with Fred Rogers (TV\u2019s Mister Rogers).
