Patterson partnered with the American Booksellers Association to distribute the funds, which were awarded to individual booksellers in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.\u00a0 The Texas winners were:<\/p>\n<ul id=\"u196782-33\">\n<li id=\"u196782-16\">\u00a0<span id=\"u196782-14\">Cathy Berner, Blue Willow Bookshop,<\/span> Houston<\/li>\n<li id=\"u196782-20\">\u00a0<span id=\"u196782-18\">Raul Chapa, BookPeople, <\/span>Austin<\/li>\n<li id=\"u196782-24\">\u00a0<span id=\"u196782-22\">John Kwiatkowski, Murder by the Book, <\/span>Houston<\/li>\n<li id=\"u196782-28\">\u00a0<span id=\"u196782-26\">Annalia Luna, Brazos Bookstore,<\/span> Houston<\/li>\n<li id=\"u196782-32\">\u00a0<span id=\"u196782-30\">Scott Montgomery, BookPeople,<\/span> Austin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"u196782-36\">Patterson personally selected the winners from booksellers who were nominated by store owners, managers, fellow booksellers, publishing professionals, and shoppers. This year\u2019s bonus recipients came from stores, both large and small, across the country. Nominated booksellers were praised for their contagious enthusiasm, knowledge across all genres, innovation, and, most importantly, dedication to books and reading.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u196782-39\">\u201cI loved hearing about the passion these grant recipients have for the work they\u2019re doing \u2014 each is committed to handselling and carefully curating book recommendations for each person that walks through their doors,\u201d said Patterson. \u201cThe attention these employees give to their customers is intrinsic to keeping them interested in reading. Booksellers can really make a difference in people\u2019s lives, and I\u2019m glad to be able to acknowledge their contributions in some way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"u196782-42\">American Booksellers Association CEO Oren Teicher said, \u201cWith his 2016 bonus program, James Patterson has again demonstrated his unwavering support for literacy and the independent booksellers who are dedicated to spreading the joy of reading.
