The beer—and the Austin evening—were cold but the room and the conversation was warm at the second annual TBF <3s Indies party last Monday, Feb. 23, at Austin’s Cheer Up Charlies.
Ten Texas independent publishers of books and journals displayed their wares, talked with fans, and sold books among the packed space. NANO Fiction, A Strange Object/Covered with Fur, American Short Fiction, Fields, Smoking Glue Gun, Write Bloody Now, Bat City, Litragger, Awst Press, and the Austin Review demonstrated the breadth of subject matter and approach, and the beauty and craft that characterize the indie scene today.
The Texas Book Festival, sponsor of the event, offered raffle prizes and giveaways. And the icing on the cake: the Typewriter Rodeo trio gamely pounded out original poems on vintage typewriters.
